Ukrainian Folk Dance: Choreotherapy

This workshop is open to all abilities, ages and curiosities!
Mariia Bakalo, dance artist from Lviv, Ukraine, will introduce Ukrainian folk dance. Working with spatial configurations, rhythmic patterns, stomping and breath, the dances facilitate a sense of wellbeing enhanced by a collective dynamic.

Mariia Bakalo is a dance artist, choreographer and educator of contemporary dance from Ukraine. Her research integrates two of her biggest passions, literature and dance. In 2015-17 she led experimental dance classes at the Ivan Franko National University, Lviv. Mariia’s choreographic works are dedicated to an idea of dance as a life practice and choreography as an ongoing reality-construction process. Mariia is designated as laureate of Presidential Artist Scholarship, Ukraine.
