Global Engagement Minor

Dear Class of 2023,

As global and cultural forces are changing higher education and society as a whole, it is essential that students continue to participate in global and intercultural learning in the classroom.

I write to you with an exciting invitation to consider the new Global Engagement Minor (GEM), which allows students to integrate their academic studies, co-curricular activities, and experiential learning in order to help them reflect on and further cultivate their intercultural development and global engagement.

During their sophomore through senior years, GEM students will complete an introductory seminar, global perspective coursework, language studies, off-campus cultural immersion, and a capstone seminar that will enable them to synthesize and reflect on the varied components of intercultural competence.

The program has extended the application deadline until the end of drop-add period. Interested students can apply by submitting a letter of interest and requesting a faculty recommendation. These materials should be emailed to Natalia Román Alicea, Assistant Director of Intercultural and Language Learning at nromanalicea@wesleyan.edu. Students should also enroll in the gateway seminar: “CGST 205: Introduction to Global Engagement.” For more information, please visit: https://www.wesleyan.edu/cgs/GEM/index.html

Best,
